TEAMING.AI in ESREL 2022

The TEAMING.AI project was present at the 32nd European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL2022) from the 28th of August to 1st of September at Dublin, Ireland. During these five days, ESREL2022 was the perfect space to exchange on scientific research and industry practices on the various themes and areas underpinning this year title: “Understanding and Managing Risk and Reliability for a Sustainable Future”. This conference was co-chaired and organised Dr Maria Chiara Leva, who is also part of the TEAMING.AI project.

The purpose of the TEAMING.AI booth at ESREL2022 was to gain more visibility in the scientific and industry community by promoting the concept, goals and aims of the project. The booth consisted of informative material such as roller banner, and leaflets. It was located at the main sponsors area to approach the more than 600 conference attendees. The TU Dublin team, contributed to the explanation of an overview of approaches and use cases in smart manufacturing scenarios where AI technologies are shaping them by introducing greater customisation and personalisation of products and services and where, at the same time, the human performance aspect is also still very relevant. The aim of the discussions was to share current interim development of new human and AI teaming frameworks in manufacturing processes where the greatest strengths of both these elements can be maximised while safety and ethical compliance guidelines are examined and maintained. Interested attendees coming from different areas such as human factors to autonomous safety systems, as well as digital twins experts approached the booth.

As part of the participation at ESREL2022, two conference papers were presented. The first one was part of the Special Session for Collaborative Intelligence in Manufacturing and Safety Critical Systems. The CISC and Teaming-AI EU projects. The paper entitled “Modifying a Manufacturing Task for Teamwork between Humans and AI: Initial Data Collection to Guide Requirements Specifications”, was presented by Andres Alonso Perez. The paper can be found in the conference proceedings in following link: https://rpsonline.com.sg/rps2prod/esrel22-epro/html/S33-08-671.xml. Hector Diego Estrada-Lugo presented the paper entitled “
